Dr Scott Graham - Part 1
I am on the medical board (MOXXOR) and the reason that I became involved with this company is basically, the product. MOXXOR is like nothing else out there. Greenlip mussel is like nothing else out there and the grape seed extract is like nothing else out there. What I want to do tonight is explain what Omega’s do, what anti-oxidants do and how in the medical world it actually is very relevant. And then how in your world it is very relevant (if you have any questions, please ask).
Omega3s
Really quickly, Omega3’s are really the basis of every cell in the body and when you look at every cell membrane of every cell in the body, it is supported by phospho- lipids. These are basically what Omega 3s are. So they are like the fortress of the cell. When a cell is damaged either from free radicals, oxidative stress, an injury from working out, from tissue damage, from auto immune problems like arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, Chron’s disease or psoriasis, they basically secrete enzymes which start the inflammatory cascade. At the end of inflammation, what you feel is pain, and that’s the body’s response to the inflammatory cascade.
So, what Omegas do is really go at the cell membrane and stabilize the cell to help prevent this (the inflammatory cascade) from ever occurring.
Anti-oxidants
What anti-oxidants do is help the cell from being damaged by free radicals. Free radicals are electrons basically out there, that don’t have a partner and they are looking to bind to something. What they do is bind to cells and then damage that cell. So, a free radical will come in having an affinity for cells, damage that cell and then causes the inflammatory cascade. What anti-oxidants do is grab that free radical and bind to it before it can cause any cellular damage.
Preventative Medicine
This is a very simple explanation of why anti-oxidants are preventative and also why they are very important in anti-aging medicine; because they help to defend each cell. Omega3s are great in preventative medicine; because they help prevent inflammation.Inflammation
Inflammation really is one of the causes of almost every disease process out there; whether it’s coronary artery disease, or Alzheimer’s, or skin disorders, or rheumatoid arthritis… all these things are really based with inflammation. What we typically do in medicine is concentrate on the inflammatory cascade because this is what the patient is complaining of… ‘my knee hurts, my back hurts, my head hurts’. So, we give medications that come in and stop that from happening, and when you stop that (the inflammatory cascade) from happening, you don’t feel the pain. It’s very normal in medicine that when people come in with pain we write prescriptions, and one of the reasons that I stand up here and speak to doctors and patients and distributors and people, is really to educate them not only on what anti-inflammatories do and what drugs do, but what the natural approach with Omega3s and anti-oxidants can do that’s actually way more beneficial.
When you block this cascade…the great thing about anti-inflammatories is that they are really good at doing this…BUT the problem is that they block other cascades also. One of the common ones, is it blocks the protective mucosa of the GI system, basically your stomach. So in the GI system, if you block that, a side effect of anti-inflammatories is that you end up getting stomach ulcers. So, one of the most common causes of anti- inflammatory use over a period of time, is that people get dyspepsia or reflux, or they get ulcers.
Between over-the-counter anti-inflammatories and prescription anti-inflammatories, about 30,000 - 34,000 people die a year from bleeding ulcers or kidney disease. So, this is really a significant issue. It’s not as well known as well as it really should be.
Rheumatoid Arthritis at age 17
“My assistant is 25 years old and was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis when she was 17. Every day, she needed to take 5 mg of Prednisone (a powerful steroidal anti-inflammatory), together with 2 Advil in the morning and 2 Advil in the afternoon, just to reduce the pain enough to make it through the day. She has been taking 4 MOXXOR per day for 2 weeks. She has fantastic energy, all through the day. She has NO aches and pains and her joints are not swollen. She no longer needs to take Advil, ever. And she has reduced her dosage of Prednisone to 2.5 mg per day.”
